Cafe Buru Buru

Just beyond Aoto’s shopping street, Cafe Buru Buru offers a bright, pale-blue setting for everything from a filling meal to carefully made sweets. The menu spans a healthy tofu-hamburg-steak set served with vegetables and small side dishes, tonkatsu curry made with Sangen pork, keema curry and green curry. There are also hot dogs with Shinshu pork sausage and coleslaw, as well as pasta, so you can choose between a lighter lunch and something more substantial.

Cakes in the display case and a varied drinks menu

The sweets in the display case are another highlight. Options include the Aoto Roll, made with a rice-flour sponge containing 100% rice flour and served with blue rock salt for a change of flavour, and tiramisu shortcake balancing gentle bitterness with richness. Drinks range from aromatic coffee made with organically grown beans and rooibos tea to the clear-blue Buru Buru Cider. Pair one with dessert and settle in for a leisurely tea break.

Room to relax, plus a terrace where dogs are welcome

The café makes use of a former nursery building, with colourful chairs and a spacious layout that is easy to navigate with a pushchair. Children’s options include a hamburger steak and Napolitan pasta, making it a comfortable choice for a family meal. There is also a terrace out front where guests can spend time with their dogs—a pleasant spot to pause outdoors on a fine day.
